Why Lunch and Learn

The concept of learning through lunchtime is one I first experienced while working in a fast-paced research institute. We would gather with our packed lunches, cups of tea or coffee for a dedicated hour and break bread together while listening to evidence-based discussions over lunchtime.

These sessions provided an opportunity to learn from the work of others, explore influential research papers, and examine the latest evidence and data. We recognised that our daily routines were already filled with emails, demanding workloads, meetings, and the realities of life. Finding dedicated time to read, critically appraise research, and translate evidence into practice was often unrealistic.

Learning at lunchtime created that space. It enabled us to stay informed, engage in meaningful discussion, and continually strengthen our own practice through shared learning. More than just a meeting, it became a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and continuous professional development—making evidence accessible and ensuring that learning remained an integral part of our work rather than an afterthought.

It is my hope that through the busy schedules of life, you take a lunchtime session every so often, journey with me into informative sessions of learning.

Let's have lunch together and Learn!!
